1) Too Broad of a Market - it is important to select the right niche market and the right one for you. I highly recommend focusing on what is called a "micro niche" market. It is more profitable to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond.
2) Trying to Sell A Product - this may sound strange but this is a huge mistake many people make. They spend their time and space talking about the product. Instead you want to focus on selling the BENEFIT of the product or service you are offering - how it meets a need, solves a problem, provides a solution, eliminates a pain or aggravation, etc.
3) Not Thoroughly Testing & Measuring - there are two applications to this :
a) it is important what you put out on the web is working - links working, auto-responder, payment process, etc
b) that the strategy you are going to use is effective. It is better to test and make sure you are getting the traffic response and a good conversion rate before invest too much money or time. You need to test and measure.
4) Becoming Discouraged - I believe the reason most people fail is they quit too soon. Make up your mind you are going stay positive and committed to the vision/dream you have for your own online business. Make sure to make adjustments along the way and avoid the other mistakes. Enjoy the journey!
